WHO WE ARE & WHAT WE DO

Campbell River and North Island Transition Society


The Campbell River and North Island Transition Society (CRNITS) provides programs, support,
and services to women and children on Northern Vancouver Island, B.C.

CRNITS is a non-profit Registered Society and Charitable Organization. The Society was formed in 1985 for the purpose of providing services to women and children struggling with issues of abuse and violence.​  CRNITS is the umbrella organization for the following:

In 1985 the Campbell River Women’s Centre gave birth to the Campbell River and North Island Transition Society (CRNITS). April 1, 2019 CRNITS took over the administration of the Women’s Centre programs including the drop-in centre, crisis/support counselling, and poverty reduction.

In 1987 Ann Elmore Transition House opened and continues to provide safe shelter, support, and programs to women and children fleeing abuse.

ROSE HARBOUR & SOCIETY OFFICE

 Rose Harbour opened in 2013 and offers a program which includes subsidized housing.  Women and their children are supported in their efforts to build a healthy life free of violence and abuse.

SAFE HOMES


​The North Island encompasses a large area with many rural communities in remote areas and on outlying islands.  The Society has implemented safe guards for women and children in these areas which includes safe homes and outreach programs.

Abuse is an attempt to control the behaviour of another person. It is a misuse of power which uses the bonds of intimacy, trust, and dependency to make the victim vulnerable.
